Scotland based artist Emily Moir creates abstract paintings which evoke emotions and memories associated with light moving over familiar landscapes.
By drawing inspiration from the landscapes surrounding her on her daily journeys, Moir creates pieces that are a reaction to the spaces and a reflection of her own personal happenings at that moment in her life. Ever changing and adapting to different situations and surroundings her intimate drawings read like pages from a personal diary, each mark a reflective reaction to her environment at the time of their creation.
Moir engages with the viewer by awaking their curiosities, allowing them to interpret her abstract paintings as they relate to them through their own experience of being in the mindful presence of landscapes.
Emily Moir lives and works in the Scottish Borders. She received her BA Hons in Fine Art from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen.
Her first exhibition 'Belong' is taking place on 5th and 6th October 2019, in the artist's own garden studio, Galashiels, Scotland.
